Valle De Oro Community Planning Group Presentation

On Tuesday, August 2, 2016, Crystal Howard from Project Cornerstone presented "Put the SanD Back in San Diego" to the Valle De Oro Community Planning Group at their monthly meeting held at the Otay Water District Headquarters in Spring Valley.

Among the audience were Joel and Jon Cloud from Hester's Granite Company, a local rock quarry located on Willow Glen Drive in El Cajon.  They were on hand to answer questions from the planning group about their experiences in the local construction aggregates industry. 

Overall, the response from the planning group was positive and they appreciated the information presented at the meeting.

The Valle de Oro Community Planning Area encompasses approximately nineteen square miles of the unincorporated portion of the County of San Diego. The Planning Area is located to the south of the City of El Cajon and to the east of the city of La Mesa. Several neighborhoods are located within Valle de Oro. Those include: Casa de Oro, Mount Helix, Vista Grande Hills and Rancho San Diego. 

Arizona Rock Products Association Presentation

On Wednesday, June 8, 2016, the Arizona Rock Products Association held its convention at San Diego's historic Hotel Del Coronado. 

At the event, Project Cornerstone's executive director, Crystal Howard, along with Hanson Aggregates' Terry Tyson, spoke to the audience about community relations and Project Cornerstone's successful educational and outreach programs.

The crowd asked great questions following the presentation and were highly supportive of Project Cornerstone's mission to educate the public about the importance of local construction aggregates (i.e., sand, gravel and crushed stone) through hands-on learning in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

Presentation at the San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce Business and Education Committee Meeting

On Friday, March 18, 2016, Alyssa Burley from Project Cornerstone spoke at the San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce Business and Education Committee meeting. 

Alyssa introduced the group to Project Cornerstone's mission, the organization's recent and upcoming activities, and discussed the May 7, 2016 Teacher Workshop.  The group was receptive to her message and the organization's educational programs as they are in-line with the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) emphasis in East County schools.

The Business and Education Committee is designed to allow business leaders, educators and administrators to collaborate.

Rotary Club of El Cajon Presentation

On Tuesday, September 29, 2015, Project Cornerstone's Alyssa Burley gave the "Put the SanD Back In San Diego" presentation to the Rotary Club of El Cajon, at the Ronald Reagan Community Center.

The group was interested in Project Cornerstone's educational programs and members of the club asked a lot of great questions about the local construction aggregates industry.

Kiwanis Club of Grantville-Allied Garden Presentation

On Thursday, August 20, 2015, Project Cornerstone's Crystal Howard delivered the "Put the SanD Back in San Diego" presentation at the Kiwanis of Grantville-Allied Gardens meeting a the Allied Gardens Recreation Center.

The presentation is designed to inform community groups about the local construction aggregate shortage in San Diego County, and offer some viable solutions.

Kiwanis Club of Escondido Presentation

On Thursday, July 9, 2015, Project Cornerstone's Alyssa Burley gave the "Put the SanD Back in San Diego" presentation at the Kiwanis Club of Escondido meeting, held at the Del Charro Restaurant in Escondido.

The presentation was designed to inform community groups about the construction aggregate shortage in San Diego County.

Local industry members, Travis Jokerst from EnviroMINE, Inc. and Matt Pound from Escondido Materials attended the meeting.  They were on hand to offer real-world answers to some of the Kiwanis member's questions about the construction aggregates industry.

Escondido Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee Presentation

On Thursday, June 11, 2015, Warren Coalson from EnviroMINE, Inc., a Platinum Supporter of Project Cornerstone, spoke on behalf of the organization at the Escondido Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee Meeting.

Mr. Coalson presented the compelling "Put the SanD Back in San Diego" presentation in order to inform the committee members about the shortage of sand in the county and other issues the industry is currently facing.

Matt Pound from Escondido Materials attended the meeting and was on hand to provide input from an local operator's perspective.
