Project Cornerstone is dedicated to educating the public about the importance of local construction aggregates. In order to further its mission, the presentation titled “Put the SanD Back in San Diego,” initially produced and disseminated by EnviroMINE, Inc., a Project Cornerstone member, was revised from its original form to reflect the organization's goals and objectives.
The presentation is designed to educate groups like Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions Club, SANDAG, and Chamber of Commerce, as well as planning groups, elected officials and public agencies about San Diego County’s construction aggregate shortage.
“The presentation illustrates what construction aggregate is and how we use it every day,” said Crystal Howard, Executive Director for Project Cornerstone, Inc. It also highlights the current shortage we are experiencing in San Diego County and emphasizes the economic and environmental benefits that would occur if the region permitted additional reserves.”
It includes information on the source of the construction aggregate shortage, reviews the impacts associated with the shortage and discusses how best to alleviate the problem of an unsustainable local supply of aggregate.
The presentation is available to the public for download on the Project Cornerstone website.
